Nightclub catering to teenagers opens in Tulsa

Who says adults get to have all the fun? Sometimes, finding a place to spend a Friday night as a teenager is just as important. In fact, Jim Orr, a former Hollywood director now living in the Tulsa, Arizona, region, along with his business partner Phillip Farmer, have decided to do something about it. According to Fox 23 in Tulsa, Krave Teen Town is a 10,000 square-foot nightclub designed exclusively for kids between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age. This place is the real deal, too.

The club will include a huge dance floor, complete with a DJ booth, as well as a snack bar, an arcade and a special VIP room that will include a karaoke machine, movie screen and swanky nightclub furniture.

“There’s about three or four things that [teens] do,” Farmer told the news source. “They either go to the movies, they go to the mall, or they come to your house and hang out.”

Jim Orr has designed similar clubs in a few different cities, so the process certainly isn’t an alien one to him. He understands that additional security measures are needed if parents are going to let their kids go to a club by themselves, which is why a dedicated team of security guards will be on-hand every single night. Additionally, the club features extensive video surveillance.

Interestingly, the place will actually use these security features to help keep kids more entertained. Current plans are to develop a smartphone app which allows kids to see which of their friends are in the club, as well as get a few snapshots from those cameras’ feeds.

Krave Teen Town has a chance to succeed, if only because it’s offering something new in a market that needs it. Young people are constantly looking for something to do, and while they may not be able to go to adult clubs, they still want to be able to have a similar experience. Those thinking of opening a nightclub should find a certain demographic that hasn’t been tapped and try to appeal to them. It’s a great way to ensure a steady stream of customers.
